The Museo Miraflores is an archaeological museum in Guatemala City, dedicated to the displace of artifacts from the ancient Maya city of Kaminaljuyu. The extensive remodel of Mseo Miraflores presented the opportunity to add a community gathering space in the form of a commercial shopping mall in a zone of the city developed for shopping.
The extensive project brought together a complex team of designers and consultants under the leadership of Spectrum Developers. The museum was set to open in March 2020 but was not able to do so because of Covid restrictions and the concern for safety of all. The exhibits are very "hands on" for both children and adults and the challenge will be to protect all when the museum is able to open safely.
