This 16,000 square-foot project now serves as collections research and storage center for the Museum of the Rockies. Funded entirely by MOR, Inc., the non-profit organization that supports the Museum, the building addresses challenges by providing immediate access to humanities collections currently being researched. The need was immediate and intense to continue international, award-winning research by the Montana State University staff and students.
Opening on June 1, 2017, the two-story addition to Museum provides a cargo elevator to allow movement of items such as a historic Yellowstone Park bus and pioneer stagecoaches to be moved from floor to floor. This also facilitates the next renovation project, the History Hall, which is anticipated following a major fund raising campaign.
In February 2018, the CCH was awarded West Region "Innovative Building" designation by the USGBC-Montana. The design and construction team accepted the award in behalf of the museum project.
Kath Williams proudly serves as vice president of the Board of Trustees for MOR, Inc. and on the building committee for this project.
